GEIST - Book Of Shadows (Album Credits)

To The Fans

Thank you so very much for tuning in every 11 days to catch Martin Cole’s journey down the proverbial rabbit hole.

Thank you for being loyal GEIST DISCIPLES and carrying the message around the world through social media and messages. When I began this journey I could have never have imagined it would turn into a full multimedia experience. It just started as a regular music album, a record of songs following the first record ‘GEIST Book of Mirrors’.

I will get back to that later.

Now at the end of this journey, I am planning the next.

‘GEIST - The Book of Light’.

More on that later as well.

First, let me thank all the people that helped ‘The Book of Shadows’ come to life.

The Producers

Ruth McCartney

To my beloved wife, I dedicate this album.

Thank you babe for hanging in there for the past 10 years, listening to drum sections over and over again.

Quote: “If I hear that hi-hat mix one more time, I’m going to throw something heavy!”

All the while being in your beloved kitchen, cooking up a storm of food that could feed the entire country of Liechtenstein. I can’t thank you enough for your lyrical and melodic guidance whilst making this album, and you will always be a part of every song.

Speaking of songs, Ruth appears on the following songs on lyrics and background vocals:

(Nothingness, Emocanics, Whispers in the Dark, Time Waits For No One, Stardust and Forevermore)  not to mention her endless efforts in being the voice of ‘Velvet’ as well as the ‘Scientific Voice FX’.

Pat Roxworthy

Hey man, what can I say. Thank you so much for believing in the magic and making dreams come true. You are a true supporter of the arts my friend, but more importantly a larger than life force and so much fun to be around! Thanks for Exec. Producing this project. You ROCK brother.

Dr. Angie McCartney

Angie, thank you for being the ever steadfast diligent bookkeeper and money source. Without you, we would have had to call it quits on this project a long time ago.

Thanks for your inspiration but, more importantly, your thumbs up when you liked a song of mine. I have to say however, I take your compliments with a tiny, tiny grain of salt, because you know, “Hey Jude’s NaNaNaNaNaNaNa hhhhhhhh…..it’ll NEVER BE A HIT!”  Thanks for your voice performance on the song “The Book Of Shadows.”

Dale Penner (Paradise Alley Studios)

Thanks for being the ultimate finishing touch of mixing this project. From a distance you managed to give my vision the sound and sonic velocity!

Thanks so much for giving Book Of Shadows life!

The Players

(Ladies first and in no particular order:)

Katja Rieckermann

(Shadowlands, Time Waits For No One, saxophone)

Not only a wonderful sax player but also a fellow German! Katja, thank you so much for giving Shadowlands and Time Waits For No One such musical and melodic depth. The songs really improved because of your presence.

Vielen, vielen Dank meine Liebe!

Julia Dettwiler

(Stardust, lead vocals)

Julia, thank you so much for making this song a great duet. I had so much fun working with you on this project and your vocal performance was nothing less than stellar, literally!

Aptly for a song named Stardust. Luv you!

Jamie Austin

(Emocanics, The Ritual, Time Waits For No One, vocals)

Dear Jamie, you were my go-to-girl on this project. The female vocal parts that I had envisioned, you nailed with perfection. Always ready to jump in and suggest parts and let your amazing voice shine! Thank you so much and I hope you enjoyed the music and the songs as much as I did.

Tamara Gallo

(Book Of Shadows, Forevermore, operatic vocals)

Dear Tamara, thank you for being a part of this project. Your classical vocal performances were the bomb! I remember putting the microphone about 20 feet away from you to give your vocal ability the place it deserved. I owe you at least 3 bottles of red wine. Thank you so much my darling!

Nick Marechal

(The Ritual, lead guitar)

Nick Marechal is such a great guitar player! I enlisted him to play the solo on Ritual!

What a treat, thanks Nick!

Antonis Karydis  (Nothingness, lead guitar)

Antonis, what can I say, thank you for being a part of this project and your wonderful and soulful guitar melody lines on Nothingness. A true genius. As well as recording your parts all the way from Greece!

Neil “Neilio” Moutrey

(We Will Dominate, bass and vocals)

Neil, thank you so much for bringing this beast of a song to life. I had so much fun working with you! As I said before, when 2 generations of rockers meet, good things can happen!

Wonderful bass lines and vocals.

Dr. Simon Mills

(Book Of Shadows, The Construct, piano)

Herr Doctor, what can I say. Your great piano performances on both Book Of Shadows and The Construct really brought those songs to life and you nailed all the parts I couldn’t even have imagined existed! Thanks so much!

Andreas Slavik

(Orchestral arrangements on ‘Forevermore, Emocanics and Time Waits For No One)

Dear Andy, thank you for your classical input and arrangements on this massive undertaking.

The Voices

When I was conceptualizing the story, it occurred to me that the characters in the script needed voices to elevate the project as a whole. Ruth suggested that each character should have its own distinctive voice, its own presence. So, editing just became a whole lot more involved.

In Chapter 9 ‘The Camp,’ I had to juggle 8 different character voices! It was quite a task and I thank all the participants for the endless hours of recording and editing.

Julie Strummer - Lena Black

Ms. Katherine (Velvet) Dubois - Scientific Voice - Ruth McCartney

Martin Cole - The Watchers - The Wanderer - Special Effects - Martin Nethercutt

A very special thanks to our cats, Butch and Sundance for giving me feline emotional support when I was doubting the project, or got stuck during the creation of the storylines and videos.

And our neighbors, who had to endure the endless drum remixes and guitar parts, thanks for not calling the cops!

So now, what’s next?

After this momentous undertaking, I am taking a break, albeit only a short one. I am gathering material for ‘The Book of Light’ at this moment, and I honestly don’t know where this journey will take me, although I am pretty sure of what it is going to sound like already. Like an empty, open book, the sound and story will come to me eventually.
Then, my hope is to go back into the past and finish the story and videos for ‘The Book of Mirrors’. The good news there is that half the script is already written.

Was lange währt wird endlich gut!

Thank you again and so long,

Martin Cole.
